UVQG Service Day @ Utah County Health Dept, 9am - 3pm

UPDATE:
Regarding parking on Service Day this Wednesday, Feb. 15th. There is covered parking in a parking terrace, as well as open parking behind the Utah County Health & Justice Building. You can park in either parking area. However, the open (not covered) parking sees a lot of cars coming and going all day. The terraced parking isn't as full and has more long-term cars parked there. (less chance of doors getting "dinged" by people coming and going all day.) You can enter the terrace from the East or the South sides and there is no charge. Then come into the building from the East side (either door) and follow the UVQG signs to the 1st floor conference room/auditorium. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions. Thanks and we hope to see you Wednesday.

2012 Service Day will be on Wednesday, February 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The meeting is NOT at the Lindon Center. Go to the Utah County Health and Justice Bldg, 151 South University Ave, Provo, to the auditorium on the main floor. Parking is behind the building in the northeast area. Please bring something for a pot-luck lunch.

Our main focus during Service Day will be tying quilts for the Utah County Health Depart-ment’s “Look Good, Feel Better” program that teaches women who are undergoing cancer treatments how to wear wigs or scarves, how to apply makeup when the chemo has taken away their eyebrows and eyelashes, and how to generally feel better while dealing with the effects of cancer treatments. The quilts will be given to the women to use while they are having their treatments and to generally give them a boost of love and support. We will need help in January getting some quilts “enveloped” and ready to tie for the Feb. meeting. If you would be willing to take the materials home to prepare a quilt for tying, please email Maureen at queentut1@comcast.net, or call me at 801-592-1920, or call Mary at 801-791-1844.

We will also be working on Quilts of Valor blocks for those who do not want to tie quilts and prefer to sew smaller items. If you prefer to sew and not tie quilts, bring your machine, neutral thread and basic sewing items.  We will also need helpers to hand-sew labels on the quilts, so please bring a basic sewing kit if you would like to help with the labels.

Each person helping at Service Day will receive a small thank-you gift,
and everyone who helps that day or completes a service kit during the
year will be entered into a drawing in November for a beautiful wooden
cheese board/cutting board with an inlaid wooden star!
