Service Day will be on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m at the Utah County Health and Justice Bldg in the main floor auditorium.
Please plan to join us for a great day of fun and service, as well as a wonderful pot luck lunch. We will be tying quilts for the Utah County Health Department’s “Look Good, Feel Better” program that teaches women who are undergoing cancer treatment how to wear wigs or scarves, how to apply makeup when the chemo has taken away their eyebrows and eyelashes, and how to generally feel better while dealing with the effects of cancer treatments. The quilts will be given to the women to use while they are having their treatments and to generally give them a boost of love and concern. We will need help in January getting some quilts “enveloped” and ready to tie for the Feb. meeting. If you would be willing to take the materials home to prepare a quilt for tying, please email Maureen at queentut1@comcast.net, or call me at 801-592-1920, or call Mary at 801-791-1844
We will also be making small receiving blankets for preemies and for little babies who are stillborn or who pass away due to prematurity and other causes. The blankets are given to the parents as a keepsake of their little one. In addition, we will work on Quilts of Valor blocks, so bring your sewing machine and supplies if you do not want to tie quilts.
Thanks for all your hard work and compassionate service!
