UTAH VALLEY QUILT GUILD
It is not too early to make plans to enter a quilt in this year‘s quilt show at the Springville Museum of Art. Our Utah Valley Quilt Guild joins with the Springville Museum of Art each year to present this unique show. The quilt show has been the most highly attended display of the year for the museum. It is an opportunity to join with other Utah quilters to showcase our quilts as "works of art." Plus, it is a thrill to see your own quilt hanging in such beautiful surround-ings.
Entries must have been completed within the last three years, and be delivered to the mu-seum on July 8 or 9 between 10AM and 5PM, or July 10 from 10AM to 1PM. The show runs until September 2nd. Entry forms will be avail-able on line (at www.smofa.org – click on "exhibitions", then "juried exhibitions", and then "quilt show") and more details will be coming each month. Quilt histories must be submitted electronically this year, so instructions are on the entry form. The preview party for the opening of the show will be Wednesday, July 14 from 6-7PM. Information regarding the "Trunk Shows" will come later, but save the dates of August 4, 5:30-8:30PM and August 6, 11AM-2PM.
This quilt show presents a wide range of styles and techniques: pieced, appliquéd, machine or hand quilted, all sizes and themes appear each year. It is a juried show, but you are amazing quilters and there are a lot of walls to fill with quilts. Quilts made from kits will not be judged but will be accepted for display only. Please choose one of your favorite quilts to enter in the show. Encourage your friends to do the same. All of those wonderful works of art that we see monthly at our guild "Show and Tell" need to be hung for the community to appreciate. If you have questions, contact Megan Legas, Sharon Wright, or Helen Butler.
