PRESIDENT's MESSAGE:

National Teacher Workshops    by Francine Berrett

If you are a beginner or intermediate quilter then these workshops are just right for you!

When you make a quilt do you ever wonder if the quilt is really done? Do you think you are through or are you enjoying yourself and wish you could do more? What about the backs that you put on your quilts? Are they just so-so? Come to the free forum (free for members of the UVQG only) on Wednesday, April 18th with our National Teacher, Sharon Wright. She will walk us through the process of making fun, creative, and attractive backs out of leftover fabrics.

Then on Thursday, April 19th we will be having an all day workshop with Sharon. In this workshop, Sharon will be helping us learn how to make our quilts a little more exciting! The following are examples of what we will be learning: writing on your quilt, piping, cording, satin stitch appliqué, double binding, fancy edging, Celtic appliqué, and how to take elements from one pattern and add them to your pattern, plus more. Bring an orphan block, an unfinished medallion, or an unfinished quilt top and go home with lots of ideas on how to make these unfinished items into works of art.

The cost for this workshop will be $30 per person and will be available on a first come first serve basis. There is a maximum of 35 openings in this workshop. Sign up with Francine on Service Day or at our March Meeting. The cost includes the packet of information. We will be serving a pot luck lunch.
