Guild Meeting -  Jan 17, 2018

Jina & Moana with Utah Quilting & Sewing Marketplace

Jina and Moana are two girls from Australia and New Zealand who have been life-time friends. They both ended up in a little town in Utah, married local boys and raised their families. Their mothers taught them to sew and they got into quilting 28 years ago.

They always dreamed of going into business together, having something to do with quilting and sewing, eventually starting "Downunder Diversions -- when you want to take a break from life."

They planned their first big trip to Missouri Star Quilting Company. They took a busload of ladies there, with side trips to Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas and The Pioneer Woman Mercantile in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, in September. It was such a huge success they're doing it again next September.

Through a series of miracles, they acquired the former HMQS (Home Machine Quilting Show) in January of this year. They renamed the show, Utah Quilting & Sewing Marketplace. Another miracle was joining the board of Sew Much Hope, a charity directly related to sewing. Come hear their journey through the quilting and sewing world and learn more about UQSM.

Guild Meeting -  May 18, 2016

    Orem Senior Center

Our May meeting will focus on portable projects that we can take with us during the hectic schedule that we all seem to have during the summer months.

We will have a Round Robin with fun teachers and their ideas to help us be productive with our hand projects while still being able to attend our kids and grandkids ball games.  We can also use the extra time we seem to spend in the car during the summer to work on our projects.

We will learn about wool applique from Diana Hess. Nancy Roberts will be teaching us how to make fun yo-yos like the ones she used on her award winning quilt that she made for our red and white challenge. Lil Anderson and Alice Bauer will show us how to make English Paper Pieced Hexies. They will show us a method for making hexies with paper, and also a method that doesn't use paper.

All of us can use a small project to take with us when we are on the run, or on our way to those fun summer vacations.  Come to our May meeting to get some great ideas from some great teachers.  We look forward to seeing everyone there.
