(July Article)

Our quilt fair is this month, the third Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Lindon Senior Center.  We are anticipating lots of fun.  Everyone’s participation is encouraged, and most welcome.  Please feel free to bring a friend with you.  (They could acquire your Christmas gift at this time.)

 We thank everyone who agreed to provide bake sale items, garage sale items and silent auction items.  We encourage you to have these items to the Lindon Senior Center as close to 9:30 a.m. as possible.
 Please note, activities at the Senior Center will also be in progress. The Center has asked that we keep the front parking area available for those coming in for lunch.  The Center will have cones in these spots to save them for the regular clients, so please honor this request and park at a different area at the Center.  If you have items to unload, you may park in the front, and then move your vehicle as soon as you can.  Thank you.

 We will have a registration/information desk.  You may sign up for door prizes here, purchase a class booklet, and pay for your lunch.  Lunches are $5.00, (Kneaders half sandwich/chips/water or a side salad, slice of bread/water.)  If you pre-ordered a lunch, we will have the list of what you requested at the desk.  You may still pre-order your lunch if you want to be sure to get one before they are gone.  Please email or call Maureen Tuttle, or 801-592-1920.  We will also have wonderful goodies and bottled water for purchase at the bake sale.

 Vendors Mall, bake sale, silent auction and lunch will be in the gym area.  Classes will be down the hall;  please look for signs.  The Garage sale will be in the room next to the gym, where the library was in the past.

 Complimentary classes will be held at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. and will last about 45 min each. We have some wonderful quilters who have volunteered their time to teach us:  Marie Haws, Nancy Haakie, Machelle Preston, Davidene Zimmerman, Flora Gillman, and one more mystery teacher yet to be revealed

 Lunch will be at 12:00 (served from the kitchen area) and the Silent Auction will end at 1:00. 

 Door prizes will be given out during the day, and you must be present to win.  Please do not panic, you may still go to classes; we will post the winners on a board, near the registration area.  You should check that board to claim your prize.  You will have an hour to claim your prize, after that we will call another name.  Thanks to our vendors for donating our door prizes!

With all the chilly, rainy weather we’ve had this spring, it’s hard to imagine summer could be right around the corner.  But soon we’ll all be glad to get out of the heat of summer while we’re enjoying the JULY FAIR inside the air-conditioned Lindon Seniors Center (our previous guild meeting location) on July 15th from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. 

Sign-up sheets will be passed around during our June meeting for

  • BAKE SALE items

  • SILENT AUCTION baskets (bees and individuals are asked to contribute silent auction items.)

  • Other fun items to sell

  • Help at the registration table

  • Help passing out lunches

  • And More! 

(Please bring your bake sale items July 15th and your silent auction items to the June meeting or the morning of the fair.)


This is a guild function and WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Thanks so far to the Knotts group who will be manning the bake sale; to Crystal North for coordinating all our classes and teachers; to Gloria Hartley for organizing a great garage sale year after year; and to Jill Cox and Kathy Zobell for taking charge of displaying some beautiful quilts.  Many hands make light work! 

Also, please bring your GARAGE SALE ITEMS to the June meeting if you can.  You can also bring them to the fair that morning, but Gloria’s work is made easier if she has time beforehand to sort and price your items. 

We have options for Quilt Fair lunches this year.  As in the past, you may call the Lindon Senior Center and order lunch from them.  We will also have Kneaders half turkey sandwiches or side salads, along with bottled water, for $5 each as pre-orders in June and then on a first come basis the day of the fair.  As we need to know how much to order, please let us know in June if you would like to purchase the Kneaders items, and you are welcome to pay then if you like.  Thanks everyone!


A huge thank you to all who have helped in sewing quilts.  We had 48 baby quilts, 1 receiving blanket, 3 crib quilts and 2 twin quilts turned in at our March meeting.  They are wonderful additions to the deserving babies and refugees in our community.  There were also many women willing to take additional kits home to finish.


 I would like to give a special thank you to Kathy Zobell and AnnaRae McAllister for their help in getting the kits together.  There will still be a few kits available at our next meeting.  I am hoping to have everything returned by May's meeting.  Thank you to all who have helped in this worthwhile project. 


February Totals

Between the quilts that were completed before service day and dropped off and the quilts finished at Service Day we were able to complete 72 quilts for Baby your Baby, 22 receiving blankets for Welcome Baby, 3 twin quilts for the Refugee Center, and 3 crib quilts. These were beautiful quilts which will brighten the home of the recipients!

We had a lot of material and yarn donated and are very grateful for all the help everyone gave to this worthy cause.  

A special shout out to our service day chairs for setting up, loading and hauling to and from the event, gathering door prizes, and putting kits together!!
